The Honest Lawyer has become a Nelson icon with friendly service, a relaxing atmosphere, excellent food and accommodation, making it a perfect stop for locals and visitors alike.

The Honest Lawyer was first opened in 1995, but could easily be mistaken as an English Country Pub.  With a stunning view of the Waimea Estuary and the mountains in the distance, our location and establishment are one of a kind.

We're situated just ten minutes by car from Nelson city centre and five minutes drive from Nelson airport and Richmond.  A wonderful base from which to explore the Nelson, New Zealand, region where there is something for everyone to do, regardless of your tastes.

In the Summer there's plenty of seating outside, a Giant Chess Set, and beautiful grounds with an orchard, Barn and paths winding around the water's edge.  The Winter months are a perfect opportunity to relax near the fire, try our Mulled Wine and a hearty meal.  Our relaxed atmosphere and stunning surrounds keep the locals and regular visitors coming back.
